However, I do feel far more secure in interacting with people with disabilities after completing the Disability and Society course. When I was in elementary school I was exposed to many children with disabilities my school had a special program for children with disabilities. Though these children were always around, I had somewhat of a fear for them because I didnââ¬â¢t understand the way the acted, and only real interaction I had with them was watching them, because they were segregated from the ââ¬Å"normiesâ⬠, or when one of them would run away from their teacher and mix in with the rest of the kids at the school. We never learned anything about the children with disabilities, so I had no idea why they acted the way they did and I had an uneasiness about them. My high school also had a program for people with disabilities, but again they were separated and I was never taught anything about their disorders. My early experiences with people with disabilities sort of set the way I thought about these people until I went through Disability and Society. In our class, we had many guest speakers, videos and class discussions that helped me increase my ââ¬Å"individual comfort levelâ⬠around people with disabilities. The most recent speaker we had, and the one that affected me the most was Sean Stephenson. Sean really helped my comfort level regarding people with disabilities because of the way he spoke to us. Business awareness: It is extremely important to have business awareness if the manager wishes to grow professionally. The manager must constantly look for new business opportunities and must exploit them whenever he can. He should have a clear idea of what his organizations overall goals are and what steps the organization is taking to achieve them. Only then can his organization and he himself can rise in the business world. Excellent communication skills: Communication is an essential tool in the professional life no matter which industry or sector you belong to. The talent to communicate well, orally and in writing goes a long way. The communication skills also include observing the non-verbal communication. Building your collaboration skills allows you to handle disparate work spread across various cultures and times zones and to transcend various boundaries. It becomes your strategy for bringing out the best in each person. Working under unpredictable circumstances: Work is often unpredictable. Situations and circumstances change and due to that the pressure of the project increases. The best laid plans are therefore disrupted and the established priorities are abandoned. In these situations, one needs to be able to handle such circumstances and make quick decisions as they arise. Periodic Trainings: Periodic trainings are very important to keep the employees up to date with the current systems and trends. Outside, a middle aged man walks outside from the back entrance after a long day at work. As he moves through the back alley, a swift cracking noise echoes the area. He drops on the ground, instantly going into a state of unconsciousness as cackling and footsteps run away from him. This horrible scenario has been occurring for the past few years in various urban areas to people who seem ââ¬Å"vulnerable.â⬠This ââ¬Å"knock out gameâ⬠has various methods of operation but for the most part, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦it typically involves either one forceful punch to the head or a more generalized assault to a random individual (typically standing or walking alone) without any warning or provocation, and without any ulterior motive such as theft or retaliationâ⬠(Zonfrillo, Arbogast, & Fein, 2014, p. 513). This trend tends to have a similar demographic of perpetrators (teenage males), yet it does not necessarily mean that the motivation to perpetrate these random assaults are all t he same. These recent attacks are a social problem because they do affect a personââ¬â¢s well being and safety in society. Three different case studies will be examined, along with different criminological theories and finally policies that could be applied for punishment and prevention crime control measures. As mentioned earlier, most cases are not economically motivated which rules out conflict theory since that ideology is associated with perpetrators who believe in class conflict, and using any means to obtain monetary or social power within a divided society. Hammurabiââ¬â¢s Laws: Fair ââ¬Å"To bring about the rule of righteousness in the land, to destroy the wicked and evil doers, so that the strong should not harm the weakâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ This is a quote from Babylonââ¬â¢s king, Hammurabi, about his set of 282 laws that he wrote around 1750 B. C. Historians and scholars agree that these ancient laws were the first to cover all aspects of society. However, historians and scholars do not agree whether Hammurabiââ¬â¢s laws were fair or cruel. Honestly, I think his laws were fair because it stated what all people needed to know, it brought order and justice to society, and it regulated many different activities.His laws stated what all people needed to know about the rules of their society. All of his laws were written down so anyone would know anything about their society and so they couldnââ¬â¢t be changed. His laws were known as the laws of ââ¬Å"an eye for an eyeâ⬠. Law number 5 states if a judge makes an error through his own fault when trying a case, he must pay a fine, be removed from the judgeââ¬â¢s bench, and never judge another case. Law number 233 states if a contractor builds a house for someone and the walls start to fall, then the builder must use his own money and labor to make the walls secure.His laws are also fair because they brought order and justice to society. Law 122 states if someone gives something to someone else for safekeeping, the transaction should be witnessed and a contract made between the two parties. I believe this law is fair because if the person loses the item the other person that gave it to him for safekeeping isnââ¬â¢t responsible for it, and wonââ¬â¢t get into any kind of trouble. Hammurabiââ¬â¢s 282 laws also regulated many different activities, from business contracts to crime. Law 22 states if anyone is committing a robbery and is caught, then he shall be put to death.Law 35 states if anyone buys cattle or sheep which the king has given to chief tains from him, he loses his money. Law 259 says, if anyone steals a water wheel from the field, he shall pay five shekels in money to its owner. I believe all these laws are fair because itââ¬â¢s giving rules that all people must follow. There are also people who think Hammurabiââ¬â¢s laws were cruel because they called for violent punishments, often death, for non-violent crimes. For example, law 202 states if someone strikes a man of higher rank, than he shall be whipped 60 times in public.In which I can understand because whipping is very violent and unfair to do to a person before they can explain themselves. My point of view is more reasonable because all of his laws WERE fair and it made everyoneââ¬â¢s life easier, without them worrying about the BAD people running loose! I think all 282 of King Hammurabiââ¬â¢s laws were fair because they stated what all people needed to know about their society, it brought order and justice to society, and it regulated many diffe rent activities, from business contracts to crime. Helen is a rich widow who had already married and had two children among them one had died in an air crash. Because of her admiration in his writings and they share some common interests, she got married to Harry. After drinking together, he again slips into sleep.
